JK reports 13 positive cases in a day, toll rises to 33

The coronavirus positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has gone up to 33 as 13 new cases tested positive Saturday.
An official said Saturday witnessed 13 new cases which includes 9 from Srinagar while rest of the cases are from Jammu.
He said eight hospitals in Kashmir and three in Jammu would be exclusively used for coronavirus patients.
“A total of 2400 treatment beds have been earmarked. Another 1000 additional quarantine beds have also been kept to handle any possible rush,” he said.
As per the media bulletin of J&K government, a total of 5919 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance, 3535 in home quarantine, 227 in hospital quarantine, and 1525 in home surveillance.
As per the government figures, a total of 632 people have completed 28 days of surveillance period for the COVID-19.
“A total of 532 samples have been sent for testing of which 486 are negative, 33 positive while the test report of 18 is awaited,” it said.
On Saturday, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar tested 47 cases of coronavirus suspects of which reports of 24 are awaited.
“Nearly, 90 cases are admitted at CD Hospital,” said Dr S Muhammad Salim Khan, Nodal Officer for coronavirus GMC Srinagar.
At Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, sample of one case, a resident of Pulwama tested positive.
The samples of ten suspect cases who were admitted on Friday have tested negative.
“A total of 52 patients are in quarantine while 11 are in isolation ward at SKIMS. On Saturday, we tested six samples and their reports are pending,” said Mediacl Superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan.
As per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, GoI, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India has surged to 819 while 19 have died.
As per the World Health Organisation, globally there are 5,12,701 confirmed cases, 23,495 deaths and 201 countries have been affected by the COVID-19.
Timeline of positive cases:
The first coronavirus positive case was reported from Srinagar on 18 March.
On 24 March, three more patients including two from Srinagar and one from Bandipora tested positive for coronavirus.
On 25 March, four more people from Bandipora were detected positive at SKIMS.
On 26 March, two grandchildren of a COVID-19 patient from Srinagar and another from Rajouri reported positive for coronavirus.
On 27 March, four persons from Srinagar and two from Rajouri tested positive.
With 13 new cases on Saturday, the total number of positive cases has gone up to 33 in J&K while one has died.
