CBSE Board 2020: Decision on CBSE pending exams likely to be announced today, check latest updates here
CBSE Board Exam 2020: The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE is expected to announce the much-awaited decision on pending Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2020 today, June 23. As per reports, CBSE will inform the Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday whether the remaining board exams will be conducted or not, which were postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last week, the board said that it will take decision on the remaining exams very shortly. "The decision will be informed to the court on Tuesday and an official notification will accordingly be issued as per directions of the top court," a senior CBSE official said.
Meanwhile, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' released the new CBSE datesheet for the pending board exams for Class 10th and Class 12th on May 18. The board announced to conduct the pending CBSE Board Exams 2020 from July 1 to July 15. It was decided by the board that the remaining CBSE exams will be held only for 29 main subjects that are required for promotion and crucial for university admissions.
Further, to ensure minimum travel for candidates, the board also said that the pending CBSE Board exams 2020 for classes 10 and 12 will be held in the students' schools by CBSE.
Uniform grading system:
As per media reports, a senior HRD Ministry official has stated that the ministry is planning to roll out a uniform grading system for students.
CBSE to inform SC about its decision on pending board exams:
The board's decision will come in response to a plea filed in SC by a group of parents sought quashing of the notification for conducting the remaining class 10 and 12 exams and demanded that the students be awarded marks based on an internal assessment or in line with marks allotted for practical exams. Moreover, Maharashtra, Delhi and Odisha governments have also made a similar request to the HRD Ministry.
The parents have said in the plea that students could be exposed to Covid-19 infection if they appear for exams amid an increase in the number of coronavirus cases, as reported by PTI.
They have cited that the CBSE has cancelled the examinations of Class 10 and 12 for its around 250 schools situated abroad and the board has decided to award marks on the basis of either practical exams or an internal assessment because of the pandemic.
In the wake of coronavirus, various state education boards have either postponed the board exams or cancelled the papers for the current academic session. The CICSE board has already announced that class 10 and 12 students can choose to not appear for pending board exams and be marked as per their performance in pre-board exams or internal assessment.
